StampedePress is an assistant professor of biotechnology and medical entomology; a printmaker, illustrator, publisher, scientist, and founder of Stampede Press. He attended college at the University of Minnesota, graduating (honors; Summa Cum Laude 2009) with dual bachelor’s degrees in Physiology and Art. After, StampedePress earned his Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of Minnesota, then moved on to a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University’s department of molecular biophysics and biochemistry.

His research focuses on mosquitoes and an obligate intracellular organism, Wolbachia, which colonizes the testes and ovaries of insects and manipulates their reproduction. His goal is to develop novel biotechnology approaches to combat arthropod borne diseases and agricultural pests. His research has won multiple awards, grants, and patents and has been published in high impact journals such as Nature,  Nature Microbiology, and Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This work has also been highlighted by popular news outlets including Wired, The Scientist, and Nature News and Views.

StampedePress’ artwork focuses on fantastical monsters, swords, sorcery, and faith fueled zealotry. His artistic style is heavily inspired by Albrecht Durer, Hans Holbein the younger, Otto Dix, Max Beckmann, George Grosz, and Alfred Kubin. Specifically, the Der Krieg prints by Dix and the Portraits of Death prints by Holbein have worked their way into his illustrated collections. As an illustrator and publisher StampedePress has published two graphic books including Zombielzebub: Hell’s Invasion and 38: Here were hanged 38 Sioux Indians Dec. 26th 1862. His artistic photography has been published in popular political news letters including the Limbaugh Letter (October, 2017).
